Analysis of causes of condensation in electrical enclosures

The electrical components inside the switch cabinet have been working continuously to generate heat, and a large amount of water vapor inside eventually condenses to form condensation. In addition, for safety protection considerations, the electrical enclosures seal is better, its heat dissipation is poor, will also lead to condensation, and condensation attached to the insulation surface to accelerate the deterioration of the insulation medium, causing circuit breaker trip or electrical equipment damage. Humidity and temperature are two key factors that determine whether condensation can form, so they have an important impact on the insulation performance of electrical equipment. For the electrical equipment in the switch cabinet, the best humidity should be maintained between 30% and 60%, because if the humidity exceeds 60%, it is easy to form condensation, which adversely affects the insulation performance of the electrical equipment. Because when the water vapor enters the high voltage switch cabinet, it will be electrolyzed into hydrogen ions and oxygen ions by the strong electromagnetic field in the switch cabinet, especially by the tip discharge process at the cable and copper bar connection, and oxygen ions will combine with oxygen molecules in the air to undergo a chemical reaction, resulting in ozone. Ozone, weak acid corrosive gas on the insulation material for a long time will lead to the decline of electrical equipment insulation performance in the high voltage electrical enclosures.
